TIGERS STATE CUP AWARDS

Hawks Rising Star Award

TALENTED utility back Brett Peacock is the 2008 Ryde-Eastwood Rising Star Award winner for 2008. A Carlingford Cougars junior product, 19 year old Peacock turned in strong performances for Balmain-Ryde Eastwood in his rookie season in the NSW State Cup.

He is pictured with RELC directors Malcolm Chapple and Jim McClymont and Hawks’ Football Club committeeman Allan Douglas at the Tigers’ recent Awards Night at Balmain Leagues Club. Adam Gardiner Memorial ‘Best Forward’ Award

STRONG running Balmain-Ryde Eastwood forward Alan Schirnack is this year’s winner of the Adam Gardiner Memorial ‘Best Forward’ Award. Schirnack is pictured with Adam’s wife Trish and father Terry Gardiner at the Tigers’ recent Awards Night at Balmain Leagues Club. The award commemorates the life of former Tigers’ assistant Jersey Flegg and Premier League coach Adam Gardiner who lost a brave battle with amyloidosis in 2006 at the age of 35.

 

Ryan Tandy wins Harry Quinlan Memorial Trophy



BALMAIN-RYDE Eastwood forward Ryan Tandy took out the Harry Quinlan Memorial Trophy for the Best & Fairest Tigers player in NSW State Cup at the Tigers’ Awards Night last Saturday at Balmain Leagues Club.

The Irish World Cup star is pictured second left with fellow trophy recipients Alan Schirnack (Adam Gardiner Memorial Best Forward); Rhys Hanbury (Best Back and Keith Barnes Leading Points-Scorer 162 pts); coach Paul Fletcher, Jarred Farlow (Players’ Player) and David Gower (Coach’s Award).

Rookie utility Brett Peacock collected the Ryde Eastwood Rising Star Award for his strong displays in the State Cup.

 

George Thompson Memorial Scholarship

EMERGING Five Dock RSL cub Kyle Lovett received the George Thompson Memorial Scholarship from Eileen Thompson at the Tigers’ rugby league Awards Night last Saturday. The award is presented to the most outstanding junior player for his overall application to the club. TWT_on-the-spot PHOTO.

 

BLACK & GOLD GIFT FOR CAMP QUALITY

BLACK & Gold Sports Council presented a cheque for $7,651 to Camp Quality at the recent Sports Star of Year Awards held at Balmain Leagues Club from funds raised by the Council’s inter sporting clubs.
