Three-time Minor Premiers Melbourne and finals series Cinderella team Canberra have dominated tonight’s Dally M Positional Awards at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. The Storm took five awards with Greg Inglis named Five-Eighth of the Year and Representative Player of the Year, Billy Slater named Fullback of the Year, Israel Folau Centre of the Year and skipper Cameron Smith Hooker of the Year. Inglis also received the Peter Frilingos Memorial Award for Headline Moment of the Year for his freakish overhead pass to set up a try in the Centenary Test. The Raiders claimed four with Alan Tongue winning Lock of the Year and Captain of the Year, Colin Best winning Winger of the Year and Neil Henry named as Coach of the Year. Manly skipper Matt Orford was named Halfback of the Year while his Sea Eagles team-mate, Glenn Stewart, was named Second-Rower of the Year. Glenn’s brother, Brett, was named Try-scorer of the Year. Veteran Panthers captain Petero Civoniceva was named Prop of the Year, while South Sydney halfback Chris Sandow was named Rookie of the Year. Brisbane Broncos halfback Ben Hunt was named the inaugural Toyota Cup Player of the Year. The public’s choice of player of the year, the Provan-Summons Medal, went to Parramatta’s Nathan Hindmarsh for the fourth consecutive year. The Sharks’ Luke Covell was the Dally M Point-scorer of the Year. The positional awards are voted separately from the Dally M Player of the Year Award.
