Wests Tigers Members Kids Clinic - Tuesday, July 15

By Wayne Cousins

The children, aged five to 12 years, were put through some rugby league drills at Concord Oval with the Wests Tigers NRL team.

Wests Tigers Junior Members had a chance to get their photographs taken with the repolica Wests Tigers premiership trophy from 2005.

"All the players were in demand but the kids loved meeting Benji Marshall and Daine Laurie,'' said Wests Tigers Membership Assistant Lyndall Murray.

"Chris Heighington even called supporter Nathan Merrick on his Dad's mobile after Nathan was unable to attend the clinic with his brother because he had Chicken Pox.''

Gai Farrar wrote to Wests Tigers following the clinic and said it was worth the long drive from Kandos to attend.

"I am writing on behalf of my son, Liam Farrar and his friends, Brock Shelley and Eddie Mann, who are all registered junior members,'' Gai said.

"I would like to thank the organisers and the players for giving up their time to carry out such an event. We travelled from Kandos and Rylstone (located between Lithgow and Mudgee to attend. We also went to Campbelltown Stadium the night before for the Storm game.

"These boys play for the Kandos-Rylstone Junior Rugby League Football Club and unfortunately, do not have the opportunities that their city counterparts have.

"My son won a signed hat for answering one of the questions. I just wish he knew as much about his school work as he does the Wests Tigers.

"Throughout our four hour road trip home, we heard nothing but Wests Tigers. They absolutely loved every bit of it. Thank you also to Lyndall who was absolutely wonderful.''

Wests Tigers will now stage a Members Barbecue on Sunday, July 27, at Concord Oval from 11am to 1pm.

Members will have the opportunity to meet the Wests Tigers top 25 squad and some of the Wests Tigers Toyota Cup team.
