PAYNE PUTS KIDS FIRST

The Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick received a cheque for $4200 on Wednesday, September 3, as part of a wonderful gesture by Wests Tigers forward Corey Payne.

At a time when some rugby league players are obsessed with making a quick dollar, Payne took it upon himself to raffle off a signed, fully framed half Wests Magpies, half Balmain Tigers heritage jersey with all proceeds going to the hospital.

Payne showed great initiative to get the jersey signed and framed and then went about selling 250 tickets himself.

"I wanted to raise some money for charity and to do something good in the community, so I chose the Sydney Children's Hospital,'' Payne said.

"You never want to see sick or injured children and you also want to help out their families. This hospital gives them plenty of support."

As part of the Payne's visit, he met several, sick children and their families in the wards. He presented them with team posters and happily signed, personalized action photos of himself playing for Wests Tigers.

"These kids give you so much strength and inspiration," Payne said.

"I want to get more involved with the Sydney Children's Hospital and am happy to do whatever I can for them."
