BALMAIN U/14 Young Guns celebrate their 2008 Southport Cup trophy win during the just completed rugby league tour of northern NSW and Queensland.

Ken Stapleton’s Tiger cubs were crowned series champions after crushing wins over Helensvale (40-0), Highfields (38-0) and Southport Tigers (40-0).

Promising half back Luke Brooks was named the best and fairest player on tour. Brooks showed his class as the Tiger cubs whipped Group One (30-6) and Ballina (44-2) at Kingsford Smith Oval to retain the Clae Webb Shield. Other award winners were skipper Alex Vlahos (Best Forward); Mason Farrell (Best Back); prop Luke Georgas (Coach’s Award); Billy Moisidis (Most Improved) and centre Lolo Funaki (Players’ Player).
