Balmain Leagues Club was purpose built in 1957 in response to the overwhelming support for the Balmain Tigers Rugby League Football Club, to provide a home for social gatherings for players, supporters and the local community.   The Balmain Leagues Club site on the corner of Victoria Road and Darling Street, Rozelle, is an iconic site with significance so great to the local community and to the sport of Rugby League, that during the code’s Centenary celebrations in 2008, the Club was identified as a “place of historical significance” by the Australian Rugby League (ARL) and a specially commissioned plaque was laid at the site.   Balmain Leagues Club was the venue for a celebration party after Wests Tigers won the NRL Premiership in 2005. Wests Tigers captain Robbie Farah said “the party at the Leagues club after the 2005 grand final was such a memorable event. I am really looking forward to getting our Leagues club back again so that we have somewhere to share our great moments with our community and our supporters”   After over 50 years of service to the community, Balmain Leagues Club at Rozelle closed its doors on 28 March 2010 after receiving notice to vacate the site to make way for the Sydney Metro.   The club moved into two smaller satellite clubs – TIGERS Five Dock & TIGERS Sydney Markets.  Both venues offer local members and guests quality service and good food in a warm friendly environment whilst keeping the iconic TIGERS brand alive.   On 26th October, 2018, the Board of Directors placed Balmain Leagues Club into voluntary administration. The appointed administrator closed TIGERS Five Dock on 28th October 2018, however TIGERS Sydney Markets remains open and is fully operational.
