VALE - Keith Aggett

May 05, 2017 | By Tigers

Balmain Tigers are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Keith Aggett, President of Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club. Keith was a stalwart of rugby league in the Balmain District for his entire life, dedicating his time as a player, coach and administrator across a number of clubs and schools.

Keith started his rugby league career at Balmain, playing Presidents Cup in 1951 and Premier division in 1952. After a stint at Parramatta, he returned to Balmain in 1956, playing two first grade games before retiring in 1957. He coached a number of teams over the next decade, including becoming the inaugural coach of the Ryde-Eastwood Hawks first grade team in 1963. He was also an inaugural director of the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club in 1963, and has been President since 2003.

Keith was also a driving force behind the very successful Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers NSWRL State Cup partnership, which saw the club reach multiple finals series, two grand finals (2009 & 2012) and produce countless first grade players for Wests Tigers.

A life member of the Ryde-Eastwood Hawks and Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club, Keith was awarded life membership of the Balmain Tigers Rugby League Football Club in 2011 and life membership of the New South Wales Rugby League in 2013.

Balmain Tigers extend their deepest sympathies to Keith’s wife Beryl, daughter Susan and son Greame and their family and friends.
